Departments

Regulation and Licensing Department

This department is responsible for issuing and renewing licenses for various market participants operating within the Market Committee's premises—such as commission agents, traders, weighmen, porters, transporters, and buyers—as well as handling matters related to the Market Committee's structure and bye-laws. The department is headed by an Accountant and its operations are managed with the assistance of one supervisor and two junior clerks.

Property Department

This section handles matters related to all properties owned by the Market Committee, including leasing them out on a long-term basis, renting, and property transfers. A Supervisor heads the section, and its operations are managed with the assistance of two junior clerks and one assistant.

Establishment/Administration Department

The Accountant handles matters related to the establishment of the Market Committee's officers and staff, as well as tasks such as organizing committee meetings and managing vehicle arrangements.

Accounts Department

All financial operations of the Market Committee are handled by the Accounts Section. This includes the disbursement of salaries and various payments, as well as the preparation of financial statements and budgets. The Accountant heads this department and is assisted by a Statistical Assistant. The Accountant bears full responsibility for the department.

Recovery Department

This department handles the recovery of outstanding dues owed to the Market Committee, as well as the collection and dissemination of import-export data and daily market rates. The responsibility for the Recovery Department rests with the Inspectors stationed at the headquarters and sub-markets, and all related operations are carried out through them.

Information Technology Department

The Market Committee has developed a computer system to handle tasks such as recording market arrivals, preparing billing statements, and processing employee salaries. This department oversees the management of the system and handles the maintenance and repair of the Committee's hardware, including computers and printers. Services from private engineering service providers are utilized for the maintenance of the computer equipment.
